When I created Evelyn & Bobbie, I chose a name that honors the two matriarchs in my life. This company began with a few beliefs I continue to hold true:
- Women building businesses makes a difference.
- Moving beyond outdated approaches helps us uncover fresh solutions.
- Each of us has the ability to create the change we hope to see in the world.
I am a woman, a business owner, a daughter, and a mother. I created this brand first and foremost as a person. From day one, I believed I could build something meaningful for my family while making a gentle, positive difference in the world. I believed I could create a brand that stood for strength.
That conviction led me to launch EB in 2015, with inclusion woven into our DNA.
During the years since, we have developed new approaches to bra and underwear engineering, carefully fitting every new style across the broadest possible spectrum of shapes and sizes before considering it ready. (No, that is not standard practice.) We became the first bra brand worldwide to introduce inclusive nude shades. We designed and sized our products in a fundamentally different way so they could support changing, natural bodies exactly as they are, in all their beauty.
It brings me genuine joy to say this: I can see expectations around beauty and inclusion shifting everywhere. Bodies in every shape, size, and skin tone now appear throughout advertising. Young people are growing up in conversations about inclusion. We are understanding that we form our own beliefs, and that each of us must choose for ourselves what—and who—we consider beautiful. Above all, love yourself.
Our guiding words have never felt more relevant: Stand strong and lead with your heart.
For the EB team, who works each day to grow this company, the purpose reaches far beyond a bra. We want to help shape a better world, one where every person’s individuality is recognized and respected. We celebrate the many women who paved the way and helped form who we are, and we actively help shape the beliefs our nieces and daughters will carry into adulthood. It is also worth saying that although women are at the center of our focus and celebration, they are not the only people who love EB products.
When you need a bra that supports you, we are here. Whoever you may be—regardless of age, race, body, ability, or the scars you carry—let your light be seen.
Our commitment to inclusion is not flawless, and it is not finished. Not even close. (Those below a C cup, we hear you. Those above 3X, we hear you as well.) Still, we are present, we care deeply, and we give this work everything we have each day. I promise to keep this company looking toward the future, while remembering every day to:
Stand strong and lead with your heart.™
With sincerity,
